5 Ways To Control Aphids In Your Garden

Follow these tips to get rid of aphids

Aphids or "plant lice" are tiny bugs that can infest your gardens. Here are 5 different solutions you can try to get rid of these pests:

1) Plant something that aphids are attracted to as a trap

Aphids really like mustard greens, so if you plant some nearby that you don’t mind sacrificing, then this should be a good method to keep them away from what you’re really trying to grow.

2) Monitor your plants regularly

Regularly checking your plants can help you catch the problem early and remove infested stems before the entire plant is taken over.

3) Spray them with water

Sometimes if the infestation isn’t yet mature, a good spray of water knocks off the aphids from the infested stems.

4) Attract aphid predators

Ladybugs, lacewings and spiders will all eat aphids without destroying your plants. Ladybugs can be purchased in the hundreds from garden centres.

5) Use an insecticide

Using an insecticide is sometimes the best option for severe infestations. Be sure to follow the directions on the bottle to ensure proper application and safety.
